Dendam tak sudah Lake

In 1777, at Bengkulu, there was a story about love. The named was Basilius. He was a nice guy and friendly to natives even though he was the son of a Netherland colonial, country which colonized Indonesia.

Again, he secretly met a native though his father forbid. He met Frida, beautiful woman from Padang.

“Frida, was already two days. It’s time you give me an answer. You want to be my wife?” asked Basilius. After a few minutes, still no answer from Frida. That was only the sound of frogs in the river. Then, Frida started to talk.

“Now it ofter rains,” said Frida, “Poor villagers.”

“Yes, i know, then?” Basilius felt confused. Frida looked Basilius.

“If you want me to be your wife, you must make the dam, so that the village wasn’t not flooded. You can?”

“Ha?! But, but ...”

“Ah, you don’t want?” ask Frida sad

“No. I want, and i will make a dam.”

“Nice. I’ll give you one year.”

“He? I think one nihgt?”

Buk! Frida hit Basilius, “You think this is a fairy tail Sangkuriang?”

“Hehe.”

A year’s time has run out, but the dam was not finished even though he was helped by his father, like tools and empoyed to make the dam. Frida dissapointed and they did not get married.

Basilius won’t to continue making the dam. He was desparate.

One day, Basilius sit on the edge of the dam. Accompenied by Joko, his friend from Java.

“Don’t cry, don’t be shy kamu cantik dari hatimuuu,” Joko sing cherrybell’s song to entertain Basilius, “Anyway, women are still a lot. You would better think about the name of this dam. You have a name for this?”

“Eumm, Dam tak sudah?” basilius said “It means ‘not finished’ in indonesian, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, but, why should the language mix? Odd name.”

“But, that is good name.”

One day, someone asked to Joko about the name of the dam made by Basilius.”

“Dam tak sudah,” answered Joko. But his friend not hear it clearly so it just like ‘Dendam tak sudah.’
